President & CEO
Michelle Shonbeck
Michelle has been affiliated with the Christian Community Service Center (CCSC) since 1988. She began as a volunteer in 1988 and in 1993 was hired to direct one of the programs. In 1995, Michelle was promoted to the position of Executive Director, and today she serves as President & CEO. Prior to working at CCSC, Michelle worked in corporate human resources.
During Michelle’s tenure, CCSC has been recognized for its excellence in applying core business principles to the accomplishment of its mission. The Houston Business Journal recognized her in 2018 with its Women Who Mean Business Award and in 2021 as one of Houston’s Most Admired CEOs.
Under Michelle’s leadership, CCSC created an endowment for long-term financial stability, closed and opened programs in response to changing community needs, and raised the funds to build a facility that enhances its interface with those it serves. Michelle has recruited and retained a strong, competent staff to expand the agency and amplify its services.
Michelle gives back to the community in numerous ways. Currently, she is serving on the boards of the Houston Philanthropy Circle, the Nick Finnegan Counseling Center, and St. Thomas Episcopal School. She has previously served on other nonprofit boards as well as volunteered with other organizations. Michelle also mentors young professionals who are focused on a career in the nonprofit industry.
A graduate of Texas A&M University with a BBA in marketing, Michelle and her husband, Scott, have two children, Jessica and Mark.
