CCSC’s two Emergency Services sites help with food and financial assistance when our neighbors face a crisis. Each day is different, and every person in need is unique. Here are a few snapshots of some Emergency Services visitors that you and CCSC recently helped.

· A marketing specialist whose job was eliminated in November. This 33-year-old single man who lives in southwest Houston secured a new job that started in January. Without ample savings to fall back on, the temporary income gap between jobs caused him to fall behind with his rent. Our Emergency Services team was able to advocate with his landlord and other supportive nonprofits to get him past his rent crisis.

· A single mom who lives in the east end with two daughters, ages 11 and 14. The mother fell in her bathroom and fractured her ankle. She had to take unpaid time off from work to heal, which lasted longer than expected due to an infection. In January, CCSC helped pay part of her rent and provided nutritious groceries to stretch her resources.

· A hard-working couple in their mid-40s. When the husband fell from a 9-foot ladder and fractured his hip in three places, leaving him unable to work, the family of five’s dual income became single overnight. Thankfully, the wife accessed our food pantry for immediate relief, and CCSC also provided financial help with rent as the family's finances adjusted to the husband’s now limited mobility.

The demand for CCSC services remains high and we need your help to serve more people in need. Give today and help families facing hardship: www.ccschouston.org.
