CCSC partners with the Houston Food Bank several times a year to provide fresh food to those dealing with food insecurity.
Food Fairs look like a small farmers market and are held at CCSC's Emergency Services-Southwest location. They are a great way to quickly distribute thousands of pounds of fresh produce to our hungry neighbors.
At a recent Food Fair, our friends from EOG Resources helped distribute 10,997 pounds of bananas, grapes, cabbage, frozen meat products, bread, and tortillas to 185 hungry families.
Food Fairs are also an opportunity for our community partners to share information about their services. This year, Baylor College of Medicine, YES Prep Public Schools, Street Grace, Baker Ripley, Civic Heart, and Justice For All have attended CCSC Food Fairs.
