Our Process

1. Come to one of our locations

Bring your photo ID, IDs or birth certificates for your household members, and proof of current address.

2. Complete an interview

Go through an interview process to qualify you for our services and to learn more about other ways to get help.

3. Receive food and clothing

We offer 5-day food packages, hygiene kits, diapers and gently used clothing (clothing provided at 3434 Branard location only).

Emergency Services operates on a first-come, first-served basis. Early arrival is encouraged.

Because other nonprofits are best able to serve other areas, our 29 zip codes are targeted to minimize duplication of services as well as connect our neighbors to the resources that are geographically closest to them.

If you do not live in CCSC’s zip code service area please call 211, the Texas/United Way HELPLINE, to find assistance in your area.

Locations

Come to the location that is most convenient for you. No appointment is required for food and clothing. Note that days, times and services offered may vary. There is a daily limit on how many can be served, and services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Early arrival is encouraged.

How often can I receive food & clothing?

In a 6-month period, you may receive up to 6 grocery packages, 2 hygiene kits, 2 diaper packages and 2 clothing room visits (clothing is only available at our 3434 Branard location). After 6 months have passed, you may qualify for another 6 months of services.

How often must I complete the interview process?

Every 6 months, we require an updated interview to ensure we provide you with the best services.

Are there any restrictions on who can get food or clothing?

Everyone must go through an interview process to qualify for services, and we provide food and clothing to residents in these zip codes: 77002, 77003, 77004, 77005, 77006, 77007, 77010, 77011, 77012, 77019, 77020, 77021, 77023, 77025, 77026, 77027, 77028, 77030, 77031, 77036, 77046, 77056, 77057, 77072, 77074, 77081, 77096, 77098, 77401

Can I get food and clothes for my whole family?

We can provide food and clothing to all members of your household that are formally registered in our program.

When are you open?

Emergency Services-Southwest is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday & Friday, 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Emergency Services-Central is open Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m. Services are offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Early arrival is encouraged.

Do I need an appointment?

You do not need an appointment for food or clothing. However, there is a daily limit on how many can be served, and services are provided on a first-come, first-served basis. Please arrive early.

We provide a variety of basic needs help for struggling families: food packages, clothing, hygiene items, and referrals to organizations offering complementary services.
