We provide financial assistance with rent or utilities during a crisis so individuals and families can remain in their homes with electricity, gas and water.
Our Process
1. Call to make an appointment
Call 713-871-9741 Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.–2 p.m., to make an appointment to meet with one of our interviewers.
Due to high call volume, this number may be busy. Please keep trying.
2. Meet with an interviewer
Arrive at your appointment time with the requested paperwork and IDs. You will discuss your situation in more detail with an interviewer so we can see if we can help.
3. Receive financial assistance
If approved, receive short-term help paying for rent, utilities or medical expenses.

Because other nonprofits are best able to serve other areas, our 29 zip codes are targeted to minimize duplication of services as well as connect our neighbors to the resources that are geographically closest to them.

Financial assistance may be received once in any 12-month period for either rent or a utility payment. There is a lifetime maximum of 3 financial assistance payments per household.
We help pay rent, electricity bills, water bills and natural gas bills.
You must complete an interview each time you request financial assistance, and you must provide documentation of your crisis. For other types of assistance (groceries, clothing, hygiene kits and diapers), the interview process is quicker.
Yes, you must have lived at your present address for at least four months, and that address must be within our 29-zip code service area. Other requirements will be discussed with you when you call to schedule an appointment.
